FURPA Organization

FURPA’s founder has been a tireless advocate for animals in need for many years. Her journey of rescuing pets in distress has granted her a profound understanding of the relentless challenges faced by these creatures, often with no one available to help in their darkest hours. Emergencies know no schedule; they strike at any time, without regard for the operational hours of local shelters or the availability of veterinary care. Just like humans, animals find themselves clinging to hope, with no certainty of help.

Our founder, moved by the plight of these innocent beings, took matters into her own hands. She realized that there was more to be done to alleviate their suffering. HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS TAKE?

HOW MUCH DOES ADOPTING COST?

Those “angels” who donate to FURPA keep our costs in check, which can be ample with special needs or injuries to the animal. Overall, cost to adopt is meant to encourage, not discourage pet rescue and adoption!

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ADOPTING AND FOSTERING?

Our network of kind individuals is called upon to foster rescue animals when shelters are full or closed. Fosters step up to house distressed animals and provide basic creature comforts in addition to urgent or routine medical care until the pet is ready for adoption. Fosters are truly heroes when saving these precious pets, working to give each pet a wonderful new normalcy in their lives. Once a rescue is safe, healthy, and stable, a foster facilitates permanent adoption, giving the fortunate fur babies the second chance they deserve.

WILL I NEED ADDITIONAL VETERINARIAN SERVICES?

Every pet owner should have the name, number, and address of a great veterinarian on speed dial near their home. After adoption, as the new parent of your fur baby, you will need to keep your pet healthy and current on vaccines. FURPA offers some food and medical insurance benefits to adoptive pet parents. Be sure to ask about available offers before taking your new pet home!

CAN I TAKE A PET HOME DIRECTLY FROM THE SHELTER?

Our rescues are often not in a shelter. Instead, they stay with a registered foster family. When you choose your adoptable pet, we’ll set up an appointment and supply all the details for your meeting! Once your application is approved and you’ve met your pet, the process to finalize details will go quickly. Each case is different, but we are as anxious as you are to get your new pet into their new forever home!
